How much is charged?
One of the many IRS requirements imposes a Tax Preparer to publish his tax preparation fees. Each preparer may charge an appropriate fee based on his experience. Our fees are based on the complexity of your tax return. We have a posted fee schedule readily available to the public at all of our offices.
In general, we:
- charge a fixed price for each tax form and worksheet used in the preparation of your tax return
- will apply a per-item charge for certain items like stock sales and depreciation
- do not charge for line-items such as interest income, unemployment and dependents
Examples of our fees for common types of returns are shown below. We can provide a more precise estimate if we know more about your tax situation.
What should be noted for 2018 filing is that the short forms 1040EZ and 1040A are no longer available.
All filers will be required to file a 1040 Form. Although the President has boosted about a ‘POSTCARD’ type form, there is now an additional 1 to 6 Schedules that need to be prepared to go along with the postcard.
Individual Tax Return Preparation Fees
Our fees are generally form-based. For example, if your tax return includes Form 1040, Schedule A, and State return, we would charge a fixed price for each these forms.
For the 2018 filing season our fee for Form 1040 is $110, Schedule A (itemizing deductions) is $35 and State return is $30 for a total preparation fee of $165.00
